Zong-Ci Zhao is a Professor at the National Climate Center (NCC), China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and the Lead Author of the third (1997~2001) and fourth (2003-2007) Reports of Working Group 1 (WG1) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC);

Co-Chair (1998 ~ 2001) and Member (1997-2004) of Scientific Planning Group (SPG), Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN); a part-time professor in Graduate School of Geoscience, China Science and Technology University (CSTU) (1995~2004), a top-scientific advisor in Zhejiang Meteorological Administration (China)(2004~2005), as well as Director (1998 ~ 2001) of Science Committee of Open Laboratory for Climate Research, China Meteorological Administration;

Invited as a visiting scholarship in National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR, USA) with Drs. W.Washington and W.Kellogg and Oregon State University (OSU, USA) with Professor M.Schlesinger (1985~1988), Columbia University (CU, USA) with Professors M.Cane and S.Zebiak (1994) and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL, USA) with Drs. R.Leung and S.Ghan (1996, 2004), and a visiting professor in University of East Anglia (UEA) of UK with Professor T.Wigley and Dr. M.Hulme (1991), Yonsei University (YONU, Korea) with Professor J.-W.Kim (2002) and University of Tokyo (UT, Japan) with Professor A.Sumi (2002~2003).

From 1989 to 2004, invited for presenting several teaching classes to the graduate students such as “Climate modeling”, “Climate Dynamics”, “Advances on climatology at modern time”, and “Global Climate System” in Peking University (PKU), Academy of Beijing Meteorology (ABM), China Science and Technology University (CSTU) (China), and Yonsei University (YONU) (Korea).

From 1989 to present time, Major research on climatic change and prediction, joining several National and International Key Projects such as climate change in China and short-term climate prediction system, published more than 100 scientific papers and books, awards by CMA, Department of Science and Technology and Department of Education in China.

Zong-Ci Zhao graduated from Department of Geophysics, Peking University, China in 1964.
